Prima CARE in Fall River, Massachusetts is recruiting a general optometrist to join a large multispecialty group in southeastern Massachusetts on a part-time basis.
Prima CARE has a large patient base with 40+ Primary Care providers and 60+ specialists, including an eye practice staffed by experienced optometrists and a part-time ophthalmologist. We are recruiting a general optometrist to join this team as our senior member nears retirement.
This is a non-academic position of general community optometry, although any specific areas of expertise, experience, or procedural skills would be welcomed. The candidate must be expert at the assessment of vision defects and diseases, including diabetic eye disease and glaucoma. He/she must be able to diagnose vision problems, interpret standard modalities of eye examination, and must be able to prescribe corrective lenses. There are no hospital responsibilities.
Prima CARE is a physician-owned group and we are an affiliate of the Steward Health Care Network. We have our own laboratory and radiology imaging departments on-site and our medical records are entirely electronic (eClinicalWorks) with voice recognition software. We pride ourselves on our excellent training, extensive experience, and careful attention to evidence-based and cost-effective care.
The salary is competitive and commensurate with training and experience. Malpractice insurance is provided and licensing fees are reimbursed. Standard benefits are offered if the candidate eventually expands his/her practice to at least 30 hours per week. The position will likely require 2 days per week, expanding to 3 or more days, depending on our staffing needs and patient demands.
Requirements include a Doctor of Optometry (O.D) degree, licensure with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Optometry and eligibility to work in Massachusetts without a visa waiver. Excellent communication skills with attention to “patient experience” are essential.
Fall River is located 20 minutes from Providence, RI, an hour from Boston, and a half-hour from Cape Cod and Newport, RI. The area is situated near cities, beaches, farms, suburbia, and virtually any type of living environment you prefer. For more information, please contact:
