Manager of Marketing and Communications

Position Summary

The Manager of Marketing and Communications oversees marketing/branding and communications for a multispecialty medical group.  This individual is responsible for enhancing the reputation of the organization and for effective internal and external communications.  The Manager is supervised by and reports to the Chief Medical Officer, but works closely with physicians, administrative staff, marketing consultants, and vendors.

The Organization

Prima CARE is a 170-provider multispecialty medical group based in Fall River, Massachusetts.  During its nearly 3 decades, Prima CARE has grown to provide a wide variety of medical services to a large and loyal patient base.  Prima CARE is physician-owned, and enjoys a reputation for quality medical care, employee satisfaction, and support of its community. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing and Planning

  • Coordinate a marketing strategy that supports Prima CARE’s strengths, patient loyalty, and service line development.
  • Understand local competitors and identify opportunities that support Prima CARE’s healthcare and business objectives.

Communications and Branding

  • Write clear, concise, and professional internal memoranda, announcements, and notifications disseminated by e-mail or other means.  
  • Create easily-understood patient letters and forms.  Maintain sensitivity to the needs of a multi-cultural and multi-lingual community.  Translate important documents into Portuguese and Spanish.
  • Maintain the group’s presence across media platforms, including newspaper, radio, television, billboards, internet, social media, mailings, and sponsorship of community programs.
  • Work with “creative” firms to design ads and copy (currently Chaffee Communications).  Oversee Prima CARE’s patient-facing and provider-facing communications (e.g., informational posters, banners, “rack cards”, signage).
  • Announce new physicians and healthcare services internally and externally.
  • Oversee the design and supplies of printed stationery, note pads, pens, forms, business cards, appointment cards, prescription pads, employee logo clothing, giveaways, and branded patient items (e.g. pill organizers, medication bags).  Work with established/new vendors (currently Davol-Taunton Printing, 4imprint, etc.).
  • Promote awareness of “Disease of the Month” internally and across media platforms (e.g., Breast and Colon Cancer, Heart Disease, Behavioral Health, Diabetes).
  • Participate in the planning of team-building events, including summer cook-outs, employee appreciation/retention awards, December Holiday Party.  

Digital Strategy and Media Relations

  • Oversee website and social media content, working alongside established website management, search engine optimization (SEO), and reputation teams (currently Treatspace).
  • Maintain up-to-date listings of Prima CARE providers on our public website, with accurate provider biographies and descriptions of services.  
  • Oversee the Prima CARE Intranet, maintaining links, documents and forms, the meeting calendar, and “Employee-of-the-Month”.
  • Coordinate advertising with “media buyer” (currently Candice McHugh from OnVision Media).  Establish and maintain relationships with media outlets to coordinate press releases and media coverage.  
  • Oversee waiting room and exam room digital “patient engagement” monitors, consulting with media company (currently PatientPoint).

Community Outreach and Engagement

  •     Support community event sponsorships and group initiatives that promote population health, wellness, and preventive care.
  • Create patient educational material, working alongside Prima CARE’s Manager of Quality, Patient Engagement, and Patent Experience.

Operational Management

  • Oversee marketing budgets, coordinating efforts with media buyers and marketing agencies.
  • Review performance metrics and provide reports to Prima CARE leadership regarding marketing ROI.

Qualifications

  • Degree or experience in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with strategic planning, brand management, digital marketing, and/or media relations.  Familiarity with healthcare systems is desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively with physicians, executives, other marketing professionals, information technology experts, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience with computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, other design software, and video conferencing software (e.g., Zoom or Teams).

Working Conditions, Benefits, and Compensation

  • Office environment (on-site in Prima CARE Administration and remotely) with regular use of computer and telephone.
  • Full-time or part-time, with full company benefits if working an average of at least 30 hours per week (health, dental, vision insurance, 401k retirement plan, paid time off, use of Prima CARE computer hardware and software}. 
  • Compensation will be competitive and based on training and experience.
