Prima CARE Hospitalist Position—Immediate opening
PrimaCARE is a 160-provider multispecialty group in southeast Massachusetts, seeking to add a full-time Hospitalist physician to our established team. The position is open immediately upon licensure in Massachusetts and credentialing at the 2 local hospitals. We are not considering J-1 or H-1b visa candidates at this time. PrimaCARE admits patients to both community hospitals in Fall River, Massachusetts – Charlton Memorial (350 beds) and St. Anne’s Hospital (185 beds). ICU admissions by the Hospitalists are rare, with no invasive procedures, intubations, or ICU management required. There is no major trauma, and Brown University (Rhode Island Hospital) or the Boston hospitals are resources for tertiary care. Prima CARE specialists are readily-available to assist in patient management, as are case managers and other support staff.
Hospitalists work 7-on and 7-off, assigned to either of the hospitals for their week "block". There is a 12-hour rounding day shift (7 am – 7 pm) and an admitting “swing” shift (1 pm – 10 pm), and candidates must be willing to accept assignment to either shift. There are no required overnight shifts. For those Hospitalists who desire, opportunities may exist for additional shifts. Significant emphasis is placed on patient satisfaction, teamwork, and efficient care. The team is welltrained, supportive, and collegial.
Salary is competitive, based on training and experience. Malpractice, health insurance, a 401k retirement plan, moving expenses, performance bonuses, and a CME allowance are included. Prima CARE is physician-owned and managed, so the Hospitalists are employed by our group rather than by the hospitals. We use an app-based charge-capture and billing system for our Hospitalists (MDCoder) in order to maximize efficiency and communicate using a HIPAAcompliant secure texting app. Both hospitals use Epic with voice-recognition software.
Fall River is in a lovely area of the country, surrounded by water of various sorts. We are 20 minutes from Providence, Rhode Island, an hour from Boston, and 30 minutes from Cape Cod.
