Position:        Endoscopy Scheduling Coordinator 
Location:       Fall River, MA
Job Type:      Full-Time 

The Endoscopy Scheduling Coordinator’s responsibilities include scheduling procedures, communicating with patients and providers, and maintaining accurate schedules. The coordinator will need to be supportive of the department’s mission with a positive, constructive, and creative demeanor.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Answer all incoming calls regarding procedures
  • Review patient demographic information and complete surgical questionnaire with patients to determine if patients health status allows them to have procedure at Outpatient Endoscopy Center vs Hospital setting
  • Review all patient medications to allow provider to appropriately adjust medications before procedure (Iron, all diabetic medications and anticoagulants) 
  • Educate patient on required preparation for all procedures. Including mailing instruction brochure to patient
  • Review patient records and schedule future procedures based on Provider’s recommendation using the American Cancer Society guidelines to ensure proper follow up.  
  • Generate encounter documenting attempts made to patient if no response from patient the ordering Provider/PCP is notified and letter is sent to patient explaining the importance of procedure
  • Obtain all medical clearance and legal guardianship paperwork when necessary
  • Enter post-surgical data into patients surgical history 
  • Review all incoming requests from outside facilities and providers to ensure patient is due for procedure 
  • Complete other clerical duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in medical office preferred. 
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment is required with a High School diploma or graduation equivalency degree (GED) and a certificate.  
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and experience with office procedures and in business/administrative processes and procedures with strong computer skills.
