Position: Sleep Technician
Location: Somerset, MA
Job Type: Full - Time

Job Description:

Prima Care, P.C. has an opening for a full-time Sleep Technician. The sleep technician prepares the patient, conducts basic physiologic studies-polysomnograms (PSG), CPAP titrations, and Home Sleep Testing, collects vital signs and other pertinent information to ensure proper interpretation by the score technologist and physician in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the AASM.

  • Prepare the patient for the sleep study, including appropriate EEG placement
  • Attend to the patient throughout the study, providing prompt and compassionate service
  • Follow procedural protocols [such as Polysomnography (PSG), Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, CPAP and oxygen titration, etc.] to ensure collection of appropriate data
  • Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, to facilitate scoring and interpretation of test results
  • Perform quality Polysomonography (PSG), Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT) and Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MWT)
  • Manage CPAP titrations, including monitoring all patient vital signs and properly fitting patients with a variety of nasal and full-face CPAP/PAP interfaces
  • Reviews studies with physicians

Minimum Requirements and Skills:

  • Certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) as a Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or Registered as RPSGT, RRT-SDS
  • Knowledge of sleep lab procedures and equipment
  • Ability to closely observe sleep tracing and respond appropriately to apnea events and other abnormalities
  • Ability to closely observe sleep tracing and respond appropriately to seizure activity and other abnormalities
  • Ability to perform positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting
  • Ability to apply electrodes and sensors according to published standards
  • Ability to provide coverage in the absence of staff
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
