Position: Lead Mammography QC Technologist – Diagnostic Center
Location: Fall River, MA

Job Description:

Our company has an opening for a Lead Mammography Quality Control Technologist.  The incumbent performs diversified clinical patient care, technical and related duties in Mammography within the Diagnostic Center.  Provide health services using medical imaging techniques to assist in the diagnosis or treatment of various human disorders.  Perform mammography and related procedures to demonstrate anatomical structures for the interpretation by or at the request of a Physician.  Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services and maintain a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics.  Provide appropriate patient care and recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.

The incumbent completes and verifies daily documentation, explains the procedure to each patient, and orientates each patient. They will perform routine equipment care, maintenance and will comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Functions as the Lead Mammography Quality Control Technologist for the health care system.
  • Responsible for performing and documenting all quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) according to MA and ACR guidelines.
  • Maintains daily records on all mammography examinations, including outsourced exams.
  • Monitors compliance with recommendations for follow-up studies.
  • Monitors recommendations for biopsies to ensure that the follow-up procedures have been performed. Maintains pathological results from biopsies.
  • Maintains accurate records of the number of procedures performed and mammograms interpreted by the radiologists.
  • Obtains previous mammography studies from outside facilities and ensures they are available for radiologist interpretation in PACS.
  • Maintains and updates medical audit analysis in coordination with the Lead interpreting Physician.
  • Performs screening mammography for periodic or baseline examinations as requested by referring physicians.
  • Performs diagnostic mammograms/ needle localizations/stereotactic breast biopsies. Performs x-ray procedures as needed.
  • Maintains and monitors the PENRAD system.
  • Assist with scheduling 1-year annual screening and follow-up diagnostic studies.

Requirements and Skills:

  • The Lead Mammography Technologist has completed a formal program of study accredited by ARRT certification in radiography.
  • The Mammography Technologist is FDA/MQSA qualified to include meeting the MQSA CE requirements of at least 15 CEUs in a 36-month period which must include at least 6 CEUs in each mammographic modality used.
  • The Mammography Technologist is required to have a minimum of one year of clinical experience with Massachusetts R.T. licensure.
  • Certification in CPR required.
  • Performance of a minimum of 25 mammography exams under the direct supervision of an appropriate MQSA qualified individual and 8 hours of training in using any modality (e.g., digital) before beginning to use that modality independently.
  • The Mammography Technologist must be able to travel (move about) unassisted within the medical enterprise in carrying out their own position responsibilities.
