Position: Front Office Receptionist & Insurance Verification – Cardiac Testing
Location: Fall River, MA
Job Type: Full Time

Job Description:

For the Front Office Receptionist aspect of the job, the individual will attend to patients on the phone and in person. Coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support delivery of quality patient care. For Insurance Verification, the individual will contact insurance carriers to verify insurance eligibility and benefits pertaining to Cardiac Testing to ensure patient’s coverage is active for the date they are seen, as well as generating cost estimates for patient responsibility. This position will also cover certain Check-In Receptionist and Authorizations Specialist duties as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to patient appointments
  • Notify patients of estimated costs of testing and collects payments as needed
  • Schedule patient appointments with referring offices and verifying that the orders and diagnosis provided is accurate and billable
  • Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries or rescheduling of appointments
  • Assist the Check-in Receptionist as needed to greet patients and confirm their information when they arrive for their appointment.
  • Assists Authorization Specialist as needed, typically checking on status of authorization requests to ensure a patient has been approved to come in for their appointment.  May also be trained to submit certain requests to cover in the event the Authorization Specialist is out.
  • Assist Check-In Receptionist with charts, filing, and calling on referrals.  May also be trained on other aspects of Check-In duties to cover in the event Check-In Receptionist is out.

Minimum Requirements and Skills:

  • Prior experience with medical insurances, including eligibility and benefits verification
  • Prior experience with insurance authorizations and referrals preferred
  • Excellent customer service and phone skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changes in policies or processes
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, electronic medical records, and HIPAA required
