Dr. Fruci earned her medical degree (MD) and PhD in pharmacology from Medical Scientist Training Program at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN after receiving a B.A. in Chemistry with honors from Wellesley College in 1985. Dr. Fruci went on to complete her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Isreal Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA in 1996. She completed a Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2000 and served on staff there and at Harvard Medical School from 2000 - 2004. Dr. Fruci worked as a pulmonary and critical care consultant in Florence, SC from 2004 - 2006 and at Sentara Health Care in Norfolk, VA from 2006 - 2012. Dr. Fruci joined Prima CARE, P.C. in July 2012 as Chief of the Pulmonary and Critical Care division. Dr. Fruci provides consultative services for patient with critical illness and respiratory diseases with special interest in lung cancer and COPD. She also performs endobronchial ultrasound bronchoscopy (EBUS), a minimally invasive procedure for biopsy of lymph nodes in the chest. She has a strong interest in quality and process improvement in the delivery of medical care. Dr. Fruci is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, and Critical Care Medicine. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and American Medical Association. She is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
